Object Remover: Remove an object from an AI image

Every real shoot has something in frame that should not be there - A cable, a light stand, a stray glass. Removing it is cheaper than reshooting, but only when the model can work out what belongs behind it. Name one object, plainly, then finish in the studio.
Name one thing, plainly
"Clean this up" gives the model no target. A position and a noun give it one.
- Say where it is - "the lamp in the upper-right corner", not "the lamp".
- One object per run. Several at once is where smudging starts.
- Small and separate removes cleanly; large and overlapping does not.
What sits behind it decides everything
The model is rebuilding, not erasing. Simple, continuous backgrounds are easy to continue; complex or structured ones are a guess.
| Behind the object | Result |
|---|---|
| Plain wall or seamless | Perfect |
| Soft bokeh | Excellent |
| Even fabric or bedding | Good |
| Regular pattern - Tile, brick | Mixed, the grid may bend |
| Text, a face, a hand | Poor - Reshoot instead |
When to reach for something else
Three other jobs look similar and are not subtraction. Use the right one.
- Changing the whole room is the scene tool.
- Widening the frame is the canvas expander.
- Removing something on the model is usually the outfit tool.
Worked example: deleting a prop from a finished scene
| Input | Finished image |
|---|---|
| Cost | 5 credits |
| Works best | Against plain or regular surfaces |
| Be | Specific about which object |
The exact instruction
remove the coffee cup on the left side of the table and reconstruct the wooden surface behind it, match the existing grain and lighting
What comes back
Name the position as well as the object when several similar things are in frame. Saying what belongs behind it gives the fill something to aim at.
When it goes wrong
| What you see | Why | What to change |
|---|---|---|
| The wrong thing disappeared | Ambiguous instruction | Name position as well as object |
| The gap looks smudged | Hidden area was too complex to infer | Remove a smaller region, or recompose |
| Anatomy came back wrong | Body reconstruction is the hardest case | Try Canvas Expander to recompose instead |
Remove an object from an AI image: common questions
Can I remove part of the model rather than an object?
Not reliably, and it is the wrong tool. Wardrobe belongs to the outfit tool and anatomy belongs in a fresh render.
Why does the patch look smudged?
The background was too complex to reconstruct, or the object was too large. Both push the model into inventing, and invention at small scale reads as smear.
How do I remove several objects?
One run each, working outward from the most obvious. Batching them in a single brief is the most common cause of a ruined patch.
Does it change the model at all?
It should not. Identity, pose, wardrobe and lighting are held; only the named object and the area behind it change.
Where to go next
This tool is usually used alongside remove everything behind, extend the frame, replace the setting and mature model sets.
